We finally land a day late in Cancun. We are quickly whisked through customs and off to get our luggage. Deftly avoiding the time share body snatchers (we learned that trick in Vegas) we headed for the Executive Car Rental desk located in the terminal. The attendant assists us with our luggage out the exit door to the rental building located conveniently close to the terminal. Our reservation had been updated online the night before so our new dates are accepted and our new Dodge Alto (White Go Cart) is produced. After the complete inspection of the vehicle we are on our way to the resort down Hwy 307.

Signage in Mexico is much better then in Cuba which has almost non existent signage. We were able to make out of the airport with no issues and quickly headed south towards Playa del Carmen. Approximately 30km down the road we see the sign to the Valentin and take the turn off. You have to be careful crossing the highway as it can be very busy and fast.

The entrance to the Valentin was palatial. We were greeting by the gate attendant who confirmed our reservation and let us through. It was approximately a 1 km drive in to the actual resort and the grounds on the way in were impressed with the landscaping that had already been accomplished.

As we drove up to the side entrance of the resort we were greeted by the friendly valet staff who quickly whisked off our bags and parked our car. We were given a valet receipt and escorted to the lobby for check-in. Several people were checking in and out so we had a short wait and were offered champagne or any drink of our choice. After checkin we were taken by golf cart to our upgraded ocean front room in building 13, first floor corner.

We could not have asked for a better room or location. The room and ensuite were amazing with lots of details not normally found in standard resort rooms. Our balcony opened up to the sand of the beach with a small deck set and lounge chairs. Greenery did separate us from the actual ocean but we actually liked this feature. We found out we were close to the beach front restaurant , main pool and of course the ocean. We had been up for 2 days so we grabbed a drink and a lunch at the beach front restaurant and headed to the ocean for a swim.

Ocean front is beautiful but you have to stay to the north end of the beach for the swimming Zone. We played in the breakers for awhile and napped on the beach loungers. After we headed to the pool for float, a drink and then to the room for clean-up for dinner. Our first night we attended the Lobster Pot restaurant and both  had one the various lobster dinners. The all inclusive wine was wonderful and dessert delicious. We found all the meals very well presented and the smaller portions allowed us to enjoy an appy, entree and dessert with out feeling stuffed. The service was incredible as it was through out the resort. We wanted to stay up for the evening show but were so tired it was off to the most amazing King Size bed for a good nights sleep. Room temp was perfect as my husband likes to sleep in a meat locker and it was very quiet. We had arrived!
