Where I stayed
Shampoo too should be simple...but there is just odd options in the markets. Plus, you have to be careful to not buy 'whitening' products
Then there was the massage. Three bucks for a half hour...by a blind masseuse. I was stoked...until she started gouging the muscles away from their respective bones, one by agonizing one. I made a pact with myself, while gritting my teeth and trying to breathe through the pain, that I would not cry out. I made it the whole way until she wrenched my back muscle away from my spine. Involuntarily, I jumped up and she asked, 'Too hard?' I said, 'Yes, maybe a little' so she resumes and does it again! This time she asks, 'Do you have problems?' 'Uhh, yes I have problems, first of which is that my muscles are being ripped apart!! Lesson learned: Japanese style massage is not the relaxing, soothing experience that I love and adore. Apparently, Thai massage is much more relaxing, but you must ask for this. I am going to have to try again. Wow, that was the most painful 'massage' I've ever experienced. And, to add insult to injury, there was no soft touch or gentle movements...nope, when she finished destroying a part of me, she just let it flop down. Brian did it with me and he was so concerned about the wrenching his lower back took that he spent a good 10-15 minutes trying to stretch them out because they were so tense. lol.
We tried to go to a ladyboy show but it didn't start until 1:30am and I wimped out. Brian went and said it was disgusting. A bar filled with almost exclusively old men and very young Cambodian women. I know they say Thailand is the land of unregulated sex industry, but I suspect Cambodia is becoming a competitor in that arena. At night, there is unabashed attempts by prostitutes to get men. Many bars you walk into are filled with old western men cavorting with beautiful young Cambodian women. Really appalling the sheer amount of this going on.
I think I'm staying one more day/night and then on to Battambang.
