We woke up to heavy showers in the morning, so another day of indoor activities was planned. Breakfast was fruit from the Carbon Market and cake from a coffee shop at the Ayala Mall. While the chocolate cake sure looked decadent, it wasn't very sweet at all -- fine by both of us.
We took a jeepney to SM Mall and arrived around 3 pm. By the time we got to the ticket booth at the theater, it was already 3:20 and we missed the start of Avatar 3D, which was okay because we wanted to eat first anyway. We purchased tickets for the 6 pm show (around $10 for both of us including a free coke and donut...a much better deal than anywhere I know in the US). We then wound up at a Japanese restaurant, Rai Rai Ken, where Zel had some prawns, noodles, and I had some sushi and tuna shashimi. My only complaint here was iced green tea was served as a glass of ice water and a tea bag...tea bags don't really work well in ice water, and despite a long steeping time, I had nothing better to show for it than green-tinged water.
Zel had mentioned a day or two earlier that she'd like to find a salon and have her nails done. There happened to be one nearly next door to the theater. A manicure and deluxe pedicure cost only $10 and occupied Zel almost up to show time. Meanwhile, I bought a magazine, stopped at another restaurant and had some beer.
The movie, of course, was great. Afterward, we stopped for some chicken, rice, and a dish of pan fried pork innards that reminded me of chorizo that hasn't been ground quite enough to become unidentifiable. The taste wasn't unpleasant, but like all organ meat, it is very rich, very unhealthy, and I had enough after only a few spoonfuls.
