I could wear jeans here! And I needed a cardigan at night! And I could leave my hair down as it wouldn't frizz into oblivion! Da Lat, if only for a few days, was a welcome relief from the heat and humidity that follows you everywhere in SE Asia.
I was hanging out with an Ozzie and an American guy in Da Lat (neither of which were that much fun and I was quite glad to get shot of them in the end to be honest) and we all arranged to get driven around on a motorbike for a day by a group of Vietnamese men who call themselves the Da Lat Easy Riders. To be honest, they could have driven me anywhere cos I am happy just riding around on a motorbike, it's fun!
We got shown a pagoda, a 'crazy house' (it was rubbish, the architect was the daughter of a former Vietnamese president, clearly education was wasted on her), some Agent Orange and napalm affected areas, a flower farm, a waterfall, a silk farm and a few other things. What's so lovely about Vietnam is you'll be wandering along the street and people will drive past and just shout "hello!" at you. I love it!
I think I only spent one full day here before moving on to Nha Trang but I'm not sure there was all that much else I could have seen although Mr Easy Rider was trying to convince me to do a week tour with him where he would take me to the Ho Chi Minh Trail which borders with Cambodia and then he would drive me down to a city from where I could bus it to Saigon. I quickly shut him up when I said "yes, that sounds brilliant but I have no money at all so it's not going to happen". He didn't try to persuade me after that!
