Dec 29th - Oh Beautiful Boracay

Well our plane was slightly delayed but we took off. Had the routine down for the domestic airport too. Line ups everywhere, which is very typical of SE Asia. When we landed in Kalibo, we decided to take a van to Caticlan instead of the bus. They packed us in, but the ride was only about 1 hour 20 min's, so not too bad. Once there, paid the rest of the fees and hoped on a ferry boat over to Boracay - now, when I say ferry, I don't mean BC ferries, or even the Merv Hardie - I'm talking a narrow 8 meter long wooden boat with stabilizers made of bamboo on either side - FUN!

Met up with Grace, Chris, Ray, Vi and Jeg Jeg. They weren't happy with our rooms and the price we had to pay for said rooms. We can see what they mean. Managed to find a different room for the 3 nights following! Good thing. Once we dropped off all our gear, we headed to the beach. Had several San Migeul light and enjoyed every moment. We ended up walking up and down the beach for a place to eat and settled on a restaurant on the beach. Everybody ordered different items. We were all so very tired having had very little sleep the night before, busy day and some fabo sun. Shortly after din din, we all headed our respective ways and then back to our rooms for a good nights sleep, HAH, that wasn't going to happen. Can you say disco?

Dec 30th - We Found Nemo!

So very happy to move to another hotel the next day, just about 20 meters down the beach. A much quieter place and the rooms were larger. We booked a boat yesterday to take us around Boracay Island the next (this) afternoon. Grabbed some water, beer, soft drinks and munchies for the 4 hour trip. We snorkeled and saw so many fish. Had some buns to feed them so they'd be swimming right in front of our faces and all around our bodies. Sooo cool. We actually found Nemo and some of his friends too! Clown fish are very protective and will swim right up to your goggles if you near their babies. Talk about an enormous amount of pressure underwater in just 6 meters, even when breathing out slightly. Guess it doesn't help when I still have remnants of a cold. Man, the coral, fish and all the oceanic creatures are so incredible in real life, up close and personal.

Following our great boat trip, we sauntered to the beach, found a place for happy hour, then a place to have dinner on the beach again. This place is a happening place in the evenings especially. Lots of tourists abound and so many shops. They have everything from local food to whatever cuisine you want or could imagine.
