We awoke and headed south on the Japan rail to a small seaside town called Kamakura.
Kamakura is home to many things, but the thing that was most endearing to us was the pleasant beach town vibe (the gigantic Buddha is pretty impressive too).  We made our way toward the Kotoku-in temple that houses the Daibutsu (great Buddha).  For a small fee we were allowed to enter into the park to witness the massive bronze Buddha statue, but their right at the base of the statue was another small intriguing doorway.  As we inched our way closer we realized that this new pathway spiraled downward into the darkness underneath the statue.  After plunging ourselves under a temple in Kyoto for a stressful re birthing simulation there was no way we were going to do this again.  Fool me once shame on me....
