A summer on the hard is not exactly what we had in mind.  Given time constraints for getting to the Bahamas from Charleston and back up to the Chesapeake by June 1 for insurance requirements just didn't work out for us.  So instead we headed on down the ICW and across the Okeechobee Waterway to Fort Myers, Florida, where we spent a delightful month.  Re-connected with some old boating buddies and enjoyed the town of Fort Myers, whose downtown area has had a relatively recent face lift.  It's very attractive with lots of nice restaurants and shops.

The anchorage was so nice.  Being very close to the Fort Myers marina, we could easily dinghy over to the marina, leave our dinghy and walk to town or ride the bus almost anywhere we needed to go.

We also ran into an old Denver buddy and had some good times with him and his wife including getting sopping wet in a sudden downpour while on a trip in his runabout.

The weather got pretty warm by May dashing our thoughts of staying aboard in May and boating around the Gulf.  So we put JB Frog on the hard and headed to our condo.

Now we're getting anxious to get on with our travels which are due to begin November 6 when we are scheduled to float.  Keep you posted!
