Where I stayed
After the long bus journey from Rio we arrived in Foz du Iguassu (Brazil) and took a taxi over the boder to Puerto Iguazu (Argentina) to check in at the Marco Polo Inn - nice place, clean rooms (with fierce air con!), good bar and a pool.
We arrived in the afternoon so the first day we just wandered around the town, had some very tasty won ton snacks and very nice white wine at the 'wok and grill' around the corner and later we treated ourselves to a meal at a v nice restaurant called Aqva where we had THE best steak of our lives.. it was amazing the sirloin steaks we had must've been around 25oz, cooked to perfection and tasted out of this world - so huge danny couldn't even manage to finish it all (not a problem for ju though!) went to bed feeling very full and very happy!
Next day we took the bus to the Argentinian side of the falls; this place is amazing. Everything is so clean and efficient, they have a little train that takes you around the park and lots of signs telling you all you need to know, very impressive.. a bit like alton towers for waterfalls but without the queues, fab.
The waterfalls are absolutely outstanding, words can't describe it... we started with the big one - the devils throat - very impressive although you get so close up that you get completely drenched forom the spray, pretty good fun. We wandered around for a few hours looking at all the different falls - there are sooo many and all are as impressive as each other, you can get really close to them on the argy side too. In the afternoon we took the jet boat ride that takes you right underneath the waterfalls; it was the coolest thing ever! we have a dvd we can show you when we get back, it was ace fun.
After the falls we wre pretty knackered so stayed at the hostel and had a darn good all you can eat bbq for about 5 quid each, bargain.
Next day we went to the Brazilian side of the falls; a similar story - the park is really well organised and clean etc. You get a completely different perspective of the falls from this side; from the argy side you're really close up but from this side as well as getting close to a couple of falls you also get an amazing panoramic view of all of the falls - we got some fab pics. At the top of the place there is an all you can eat buffet style restaurant serving authentic brazilian food so we ate there which was delicious, totally stuffed ourselves silly though.
Back in Puerto Iguazu we went for a couple of beers with a lovely couple from new zealand (Ray and Carly) before jumping on the next bus to take us to Buenos Aires.
