Our flight with Cebu left Hong Kong on time and took 1 hour and 50 minutes, overall for a short flight this was ok apart from the expensive drinks and food but we only had a drink so that was ok. We landed I'm Clark and getting through emigration was quick and easy, 21 day visas are given on entry so we will need to extend before the expiry date. We took a jeepny from the airport to the bus station and then on by jeepny to Olongapo city (derived from "Ulo ng Apo" meaning head of the chieftain) where George (This is the Dad of a friend Russell from Pharos that I met while working there, we only found out that his Dad lived there when I was chatting to him when we were in China and I mentioned that we were coming to The Philippines)  was picking us up, while we waited we went into Andoks (Local fast food place) and had a drink (mine was bright pink and tasted of bubblegum, yuck). Baloy beach is 15 mins from the city and mostly local tourists and expacts come here or live here, the Filipinos speak very good English so that is a bonus. We were shattered so we went for Barrittos and went to bed.

Day two saw us wonder the area, to be honest unless you are on the beach there is not much else here although it is what I see as a typical Filippino town but as I have only been here a day and a half that remains to be seen. I got a Pedicure (I wanted one in China but left it to late) for 60 pesos (£0.85p) not what I would get in the UK but it did the job and my poorly toe looks much better now that it has started to grow. We spent the afternoon in the appartment updating the blogs and watching the pouring rain, we found out today that the rainy season is just starting....Please please let there be some good weather while we are here

Day three saw much of the same as the day before apart from it was overcast but not raining in the morning, we caught a jeepney to Subic Market which was pretty much a typical Asian market selling just about anything you want and wondered around the town, Danny had lunch in a local cafe, I will just say it was interesting!!! We stopped for a drink on the way back to the appartment and spent the late afternoon watching a film on HBO Asia channel.

Day four & Five its poured with rain so we just went out to eat and satyed around the appartment.

Day Six and finally sunshine, we went into town to pick up some tean and coffee and spent the afternoon on the beach (not the best we will admit but it had a nice breeze as the temp was in the 30's and sweat was quite littrally pouring off us. We went out to dinner with a couple of the other tennants in the appartments which was nice and really cheap at £3.92 including one beer and a soft drink....now that is the right price.

We have booked our flights to Palawan for Monday so we leave for Manila on Saturday to spend a couple of days in Manila before we fly. Palawan is down south and this is where all the islands with the white beaches are so if the weather behaves we should see some truly amazing beaches and do some snorkeling

Day seven we spent the day at Subic Zoo with George, Thess and Nikki and it has to be said what a lovely day we had with such good company.

Day Eight and Nine much the same as before as I said earlier this resort is more for expacts that seem to do the same things day out and day in, I guess its a life they choose but for Danny and I we need more to do.....again is this something that is drilled into us in the western world as I can understand with the heat that doing nothing is easier then doing something....

Anyway off to Palawan tomorrow so will sign this off and see you in Palawan

Julie

Ps Our thanks for George, Thess and Nikki
