Hello all
Well here I am in Kuala Lumpar. Sorry for the delay in updating my travel log but been busy busy busy plus the pc never seems to work very well..
Felt really weird when I said goodbye to everyone at the rescue centre; yes I did cry a bit. Got really friendly with Sarah and Uta (Germany), Willy (Holland), Bettina (Switzerland) plus Emma, Lucynda and Nick (UK) so will catch up with them asap when I get home. Have missed the animals but at least have had good nights sleep at Sonja's when we eventually get home that is; it's been one long round of parties!!!
The first night we went out for fish and chips and I had three glasses of wine, waking up with a sore head!! Tuesday was spent in the markets with buying Channel, Mont Blanc and other designer stuff, all authentic of course! In the evening we went to Chucko's house on the top of a hill overlooking KL, amazing views of the Petronas Towers. Was meant to be a pool party but it was pouring down. It rains every afternoon here and the temp isn't as hot as Thailand.
Got up early Wednesday and was on the train to KL centre about 7:45...just like being in London the train was packed!!! Got to the Petronas Towers (the highest twin towers in the world now); boy what a view from the 41st floor.!! Then spent a couple of hours walking around little India.
History lesson Malaysia is made up of three cultures Indian, Chinese and Malay so there is no such thing as Malaysian food. So there is a place for each culture in KL, Little India, Chinatown and the Malay section.
KL is so much like being in London, bits of it remind me of Hyde Park Corner, Greenwich village, and they even have the Eye on Malaysia (London Eye equivalent). Then the seedy part of KL reminds me of Wandsworth. It's very interesting.
Wednesday night we went to an 80's music night and ended up drinking too much vodka. It's bizarre having a waitress look after your every whim. Champagne is 100 quid a bottle and someone had a bottle thrown over his head along with the ice bucket...what a waste!!! Got home at 2:30...shattered!!!
Sonja's friend came over on Thursday ; she is struggling with her accountancy exams..Discounted Cash Flows so I'm being teacher this afternoon. Then we went to have a Malay massage which was one of the most painful experiences of my life!!!
Then went to the BMW Formula 1 (Grand Prix is here this weekend) party which was awesome but I got very drunk (too many Martini's and glasses of champagne) and became very homesick and so apologies for my texts. Kuala Lumpar is a good city but the girls are so skinny and so you can imagine how that made me feel hence the sad mood.
Sonja was suffering a bit this morning, well we didn't get in until 5 this morning!!! So we decided that a 5 hour drive to Singapore wasn't such a good idea. So got my Lonely Planet and went exploring again. Went all over the place and was even able to tell a few Americans how to get about...I am such a local now after 4 days!!!
Have tackled the underground a lot more now and am quietly confident about travelling around now on the underground. Getting a taxi is another matter but there's still time for me to improve on that.
It was a very hot day today, still not as hot as Thailand but hard to walk around town in without having loads of water. Hangover didn't help tho.
So I have been buying stuff being here, sorry Jess 2 new pairs of shoes and a handbag plus a new suitcase to bring it all back in!!! Stupidly I left all my t shirts in the big case back in Bangkok airport so I had to buy 3 t shirts here...doh very blonde moment!!
There will be no drinking tonight, watching a DVD and early night. Hopefully going to the Grand Prix tomorrow plus if it's sunny a visit to a swimming pool.
Anyway hope you are all well
Take Care write when you have some time
