Well, its been a busy few weeks.
Work is full of stress and pressure to earn some cash in the last few weeks. I have had 12 deals now and have earned nearly 3000GBP, which in rupees is Rs250,000.00 (wow 2.5 Lakh).
The company took us on a party to the "Caravella Casino Boat" in Panjim, cruising up n'down the mandovi river.
A really good night all round, I gave Ashwin a Rs100 chip to play Roulette and he won 35:1, not bad for his first ever try!! overall we made Rs5000 in an hour and we were the only people from work to make any profit..cool
The weather is just getting hotter and hotter here now. It really is the end of the tourist season because the temperatures are hitting the mid 40's and its mega humid. But, you still get quite a few people on the beaches all day (burning!).
Its got to the point where you need to go to the markets before 9am to buy your groceries..You can just imagine the smell at the fish/meat markets around midday - not good!
I still love it out here, its a great place to live.
Just the ride to work each morning still amazes me..driving on any side of the road, wild pigs and cows crossing too. Watching all the people waiting in sarees to cram onto the bus for work..
I am looking for a new house to get away from the chickens who try to eat all my rubbish bags, puppies that want to jump all over me and landlady that goes thru my rubbish throughly before she burns it all in the garden!!
Its made me more conscious of my garbage tho, I am starting to buy less ready made stuff, less cans because they cant be disposed of out here.
We dont have rubbish trucks where I live, so you have to either throw your rubbish into next doors garden, or burn it yourself!.
I have 2 days off this week and I am planning to head north to Morjim (turtle) beach with Sudarshan & Mathias. I am hoping to have a few weeks off work next month, plus 1 week spent in THAILAND!! to get my new India visa.
So, next entry will be from bangkok where I am going to stock up on aas much stuff as I can. I am planning to take a small bag and return with a huge suitcase!
Hope all is well, photo's coming soon..you may even get to see me in my new saree.
Thursday - huge storm here last night. Massive black clouds hanging in the sky. We just got back from shopping in Mapusa when the rain started.
We have been awaiting the rain here for weeks now to break up the heat, the real monsoon doesnt start until June really, but everyone has expected it to rain before the temperature hits high.
Power out across the north of Goa, we took cover at Ashwins house. Ash had just bought his own generator, but of course the guy to install doesnt come until tomorrow! so we all sat around with an emergency light and ate biscuits watching the lightening.
The ride to my house was scary - no street lights, bus stands and palm trees had crashed into the roads!! I managed to find 2 candles at my place, to keep me going until morning..really hot out here without the ceiling fans.
At work today..we do most our selling on a Panorama top deck at the resort..the entire deck was flooded with water, some of the roofing had flown off and roof tiles had crashed across the walkways. Big clean up before we could take any tours.
