As when we stopped in St. Louis, it was nice today not to have to wake up, check out, and start driving. In addition to the benefits of not staying in a hotel, it's wonderful to have a fantastic (nearly) native hostess (and two of her dogs to play with!).
We explored Old Town Albuquerque today, which is filled with funky shops, boutiques, and art galleries. Later we drove up towards the Tramway, at the base of the mountains, and watched the sun set over more mountains to the west. It was probably the most spectacular sunset we've seen during our whole trip -- and we have the pictures to prove it! After that was dinner at a fabulous and spicy New Mexican-style restaurant.
Tomorrow we'll be heading up to the Bandelier pueblo ruins and Santa Fe for the day.
