G'Day.
2 weeks ago we picked up Charlotte up from Perth Airport and took her straight to a camping shop to purchase a tent! Poor girl - thought she was here for a holiday!!! ha!
We spent a couple of days in the city doing some very important shopping and also adjusting Charlotte to Australian time.
We hit the road a couple of days later in the direction of Margaret River. We had been told that the landscape was very beautiful and resembled Cornwall. Ha ha - how correct was that description as it rained for a couple of days....

The main road running north to south is called 'Caves Road' - which has numerous limestone caves winding their way underground. We chose to enter Giants Caves; the adventure cave, NOT for the faint hearted, claustrophobic, or larger person.. Inside were some tiny passage to squeeze through, long ladders to scale, strange shaped stalactites, and all in absolute pitch black.

Despite the rain we booked onto a wine tasting tour. When the bus arrived we found out were the only three on the tour so had a private days tour. The tour started with the basics of wine tasting - swirl (the glass), smell, swallow/or spit - and there were two other S's to do but the quantity of wine I consumed has numbed my memory...

We visited 5 wineries and all developed our taste buds sufficiently. As we were only a group of 3 (as opposed to a group of 30) arriving at each winery, we were privileged to receive the finest wines at each cellar and were given ample quantities to taste.

Between wineries our tour guide took us to the Margaret River Chocolate Company, a Cheese factory, and and Ice cream Factory - each with free samples... (lactose, lactose, lactose...)

Quite a few days were spent lazing and gossiping at beaches dotted along the coastline and followed by soaking up the amazing Western Australian sunsets.
The swell picked up and James ventured into the waves for an tough kite surfing session just around the corner from the river mouth at Margaret river. At times the break was so busy that all the kiter's had to queue up in the water in a surfers line up.

The rest of our time was spent working our way back to Perth via Rockingham and its super kite surf spot Safety Bay. With a lot of persuasion and brute force we took Charlotte back to airport and as far as we know she is back in England. Can anyone vouch for this as she took a liking to Australia....
