Having a fantastico trip - everyone is so nice, the weather has been great & the countryside amazing!
Currently in hotel in Nazca weŽve got a few hours to spare before we go out for dinner tonight then catch the dreaded night bus to Arequipa - should be an interesting if not long 8hours or so.
Anyway the trip so far has been awesome.......arrive Lima airport after the most exhausting trip IŽve had, i think its the 8hour stopover in Santiago where you canŽt do anything except sleep & wander around aimlessly. Had 2 nights in Lima, met the rest of the group 8 plus Julio our leader, everyone is really nice. Lima was ok not too much to see & we were really keen to head off. Had 3 & a half hour bus trip to Pisco, home of the Pisco Sour cocktail....when in Rome hey? Morning in Pisco was a boat trip out to the islands off Paracas the poor manŽs Galapagos - loads of wildlife, birds penguins & sea lions, the place stunk of birdpoo but some good photos of the seals, are boat broke down for about 15 mins a bit dicey but adds to the adventure! That afternoon we headed south to Nazca but stopped for lunch & went sand buggying! Wow that was exciting just like a roller coaster, the drivers are šlocošsure the travel insurance didnt cover that but it was so much fun. The scenery on the bus trip to Nazca was amazing the mountains are just spectacular. This morning we did the small small plane trip over the Nazca lines!!! the photos donŽt do it justice but I was pretty proud of myself to get on the flight, something IŽll never had the opportunity to do again, well worth the $US70.
The food everywhere has been awesome, you certainly couldnt starve & so far no tummy issues (touch wood!) Looking forward to some ilama/ilpaca steaks not so sure about the guinea pig!
Anyway, my spanish has rapido improved & looking forward the next few days. Will upload photos soon as having technical issues.
Hope everyone well back in Aust, it feels like IŽve been away for months!
Love Judy :)
