Friday morning, we set out in Barbara's camper van to the village of Appleton Whiske, 2 1/2 hours North of York, where Gran's brother Ted lives with his wife, Wendy.

We've been planning this 80th birthday party for Gran for about a year, and it's strange to think we're here already.

The big day dawned hot and sunny, which made us think that we might not be in England after all, as the forecast is usually cloudy with showers. Ted had Mom and I blowing up balloons and hanging banners before the guests started arriving. What a beautiful afternoon we all had together! We visited with some of my great-grandmother's old neighbors, Gran's godson and his wife, and many friends from Gran's past. We even got to see a picture of Gran as a five year-old flower girl.

We head down to London tomorrow to catch a direct flight from Heathrow to EDMONTON! Watch out Canada!
