We're now in Slovakia! We met up yesterday in Wrosclaw and had no internet in the hostel so no blog updates yesterday. We went out last night for a few beers with a local friend of Marcin’s and got a bit drunk. We started out in a Polish bar and shot back a few vodkas and put away some salted cucumber. It’s like a gerkin only instead of pickling it they just salt it but it tastes pretty much the same. After that went on to an Irish place and had Guiness and chatted with some guys from Ireland. They were already loaded and one of them started stripping in the bar and the staff cheered. That wouldn’t happen in London! After that we went from bar to bar and the rest of the night is a bit of a blur, even more so for Marcin who didn’t get back until 9am. At 11am the receptionist was banging on the door telling us to leave. Considering that standing up was asking a lot we informed her politely that she had no hope so she gave us another half an hour and somehow we managed to get ourselves up and sorted. With some food inside I felt a bit better so we ventured out onto the motorway and headed towards the Slovakia border to see how things went. Marcin is pretty good, he rides fine and we had no problems. The pace was quick and my bike didn’t like it and she drank far more fuel than normal. The road was fairly clear and easy going, it was a modern motorway and we made good time. The cold is not getting to me as badly as it did at first and oddly my seat is comfortable this time. I must be getting used to it. The only problem was that the road suddenly stopped so we had to divert to the main roads which suited me better in any case. Strangely I went onto reserve at about 135 miles and that’s far less than usual. The pace was quick but not that quick. There was some fuel in the bottom of the reserve tank so my guess is the hose isn’t reaching the bottom but even so there can’t be that much petrol in there. I’m going to have to keep my eye on the fuel consumption. She seems to be running well so I’m not too worried but I hope it’s not a sign of a problem developing. Probably a mixture of not draining the fuel properly, higher speeds and not filling the tank all the way to the top.
