Sometimes you have a bad day and yesterday was one of those. I'm leaving Wednesday is all goes well so I'm running out of time. When it comes to the bike I've had two big problems and lately both of them have been flaring up. The first is the size, she's small it's hard to make things fit and while I've got the headlights and fuel tank sorted I have the emergency mini fuel bottles and tool tube to fit and just cannot find anywhere for them. The other problem is the sheer incompetence of people in this country. There's a global recession so wages drop and that drags down the ability of staff and businesses. I bought a new set of brake discs a month ago and the rear turned up last week. I have already fitted the front about a week ago but it was an uphill struggle to even get it delivered in under three weeks. So the rear doesn't match the design of the front in any way but we had a go at fitting it in any case. It didn't fit... of course. No way the holes were lined up and a quick call to the shop, Rainbow BMW, proved there was nothing they could do.
So now I have no rear disc but the old one is hanging on by a thread and will last for now.
So that wasted a day, pretty much. On the way home I had a few other issues. Traffic was a nightmare and as I came through Stratford a guy on a pizza delivery scooter followed me through the cars. I had to stop when there was no space to get through, he clearly didn't and crashed straight into me. At that point my brakes were on and he hit me pretty much square on. I lurched but everything held. I stopped and checked and luckily there was no damage at least to my bike. His was a bit worse for wear as it lurched off and scrambled down the road on it side. He was ok, shaken but it clearly wasn't his first time.
It almost happened again, some arsehole in a car reversed into me. I banged on his window hard enough to hurt my hand and he stopped inches from knocking me over. He tried to give me some abuse but got far more in return than he could handle.
Today I've been working on her again. Still can't find anywhere to fit the auxiliary parts but I have two clear days and I should be fine....
