Yet, nestled in amongst the monkeys and mosquitos El Pachan accommodates not only tree-house cabanas, but live music, e'speghetti pesto & red wine.... All just a few kms from the Mayan Ruins.
The visible ruins cover less than 2 sq km of the park, but satellite photos show a further 150 buildings buried beneath the surrounding jungle. What is visible is truly amazing. The various groups of structures and especially the large palace with its numerous rooms and corridors, provides a real sense of the community that existed here 1300 years ago.
