On the move today...after a swim and in Katrina's case yet another facial we checked out of the Cabo Surf with heavy hearts. Hopefully we'll be back there one day. So it was onward to the Casa Dorada at Medano Beach in Cabo San Lucas. San Lucas is definitely a bit of a faster pace, a lot more people around.
We checked into the Casa Doada and the hotel is absolutely magnificent. The 1 bedroom villa we hired is a real balltearer, definitely one of the best hotel rooms we have stayed in. It's got the works, 2 plasmas, a spa, kitchen, living room etc etc. We had a bit of time to kill before our room was ready so we wandered around and checked out the hotel. The view from the hotel is really impressive, it is absolute beachfront and and the view looks across an awesome beach to some rock formations which are at the end of the cape. We got settled in then the girls went for a swim in one of the pools while I went and dropped a bag load of laundry off at the laundromat which they launderd for the princely sum of about 6 bucks. Crazy deal! I stopped in at Sharkies Taco Bar on the way back to the laundromat and helped myself to 4 fish tacos and a corona which came to $7. Then it was off to the pool to meet up with Katrina and the girls who had ordered lunch and were having a swim. The girls were excited to show me the Turtle Sanctuary Project which is the hotel's effort to help promote the global turtle population by nurturing turtle eggs and cutting them loose when they are ready, all under strict supervision of course. A large percentage of the world's turtles originate in this region.
After lunch Katrina and I ordered some drinks, Corona for me and Mojito for her. They have this 2 for 1 thing going over here which is exactly as it sounds. every time you order a drink they bring you two and you'd better not protest. So down to the beach we went for another swim and to laze around on the banana chairs, order a few more drinks and deal with the souvenir peddlers. The beach scene here is pretty crazy, any number of bars lined up side by side pumping out the beats with all sorts of promos going on, it's a real party atmosphere. I wandered down to check out one of the beachfront bars and must have been offered blow or weed at least half a dozen times. Lil got on a bit of a roll with the peddlers and ordered a bracelet, sunglasses and hat while Hannah got herself a nice Mexican dress and a wristband and Katrina also bought herself a nice Mexican dress for $15. Katrina and I were both a bit Schindlers List by 6pm so we grabbed the kids and headed back to the room to get ready for dinner. We didn't have to go far for dinner, just around the corner from the hotel is an awesome restaurant called Edith's. The food and service at this joint was amazing - Katrina made the most of it and ordered the 'Wally's Special' which was lobster and ribeye while I went for a Mexican combo and the girls tucked into some tacos. At one point we had the in house band come over and give us a rendition of 'Tequila'. It was probably a bit corny but the girls loved it. By the time we knocked it on the head it was 9pm. So it was back to the room for some in room dining dessert and off to nigh nighs...
