A bit of a sleep in then up and at 'em. A short 10 minute drive took us to Universal Studios this morning. We made it there in plenty of time and Katrina in her wisdom had organised front of line passes which meant we were able to bypass the queue for all the rides and most of the shows had a short meet and greet/photos with cast members after each show. The girls had their autograph books out and met every character there. Universal Studios has nowhere near as much territory to cover as Disneyland and you can get through it all in a day, particularly with the front of line passes, but it still took us a solid 7 hours to cover everything. Highlights were the Simpsons ride and meeting the characters, the Terminator 2 3D show, the 3D King Kong/Jurassic Park attraction within the studio tour, and the special effects show when Kate was picked out of the audience to get her arm 'cut off'. We finished up at about 5pm and Katrina had enough time for a quick visit to Cinnabon and then we were back to the hotel.
Happy hour was in full swing by the time we got back to the hotel. Kate & I grabbed a glass of wine and went up to the rooftop pool with Hannah, who wanted a swim, to watch the sunset which was fairly spectacular due to some thunderclouds rolling in over the hills. Then we left the girls with Kate and Katrina and I headed across the road to the House of Blues for dinner and the UB40 show. The band hit the stage around 9pm and were straight into all their old hits, they played for a solid 2 hours and a bit and it was a great show. We met and got talking to a nice ex-pat Sth African couple who have been living here for 10 years, Mark and Tessa. After the show was over we headed down to the Whisky A Go Go for a drink just for the hell of it but they had some band playing who were pretty raw and just about split our ear drums so we didn't last long. We thought we might check out the Viper Room as well but when we walked past it the noise emanating from inside was almost as bad as the Whiskey so we decided to give it a miss and head back to the hotel at about midnight.
