Where I stayed
I'm pretty happy about moving hostels at the start of this week. I'm now staying at the HI Vancouver Cenral, which is in a much better location and isn't quite as dingy and stuffy as HI Downtown. It seems they even allow pets (I've seen a few mice scurrying across the floor of the computer room!).
On monday night I went on a guided bar-crawl with the hostel, which I pretty much classed as my birthday celebration! We didn't get very far, the crawl consists of the three bars closest to the hostel, but we did get free entry and a free drink at the end of the night.
On Tuesday we ventured to Granville Island on a tiny ferry boat to explore the markets. There was a pretty amazing cake stall so I decided to treat myself for my birthday. I bought a Nanaimo bar (gooey chocolate slice with layers of cream and brownie with nuts in - I couldn't finish it!) and a Pecan Tart. In the evening we went to a greek restaurant called Stepho's. I had soo much to eat, including the best roast lamb I have ever had. The food was good value too.
Today we went to explore Lynn Canyon over by North Vancouver. The park was very beautiful with some impressive waterfalls. You could also scramble down to the river to sit by the crystal clear water.
