This morning we started by driving back to the Bowali Visitors centre to get some more information about the park. We then stopped off at Nourlangie Rock, which has some aboriginal art sites. At the start of the path we were lucky enough to spot a rock wallaby in the trees. We had it to ourselves for a few minutes before a bus load of tourists came along and scared it of. After a walk around, we drove back through Jabiru to the Ubirr art sites and climbed to the took of the lookout, which wasn't particularly high but still had amazing views.
We had seen on the information board at the visitors centre that there had been crocodiles spotted at the East Alligator River, so we had a quick stop there to see if we could spot anything. We stopped by the boat jetty there, and there was a picnic table quite high up off the riverbank so we assumed it was safe to sit there and see if we could spot any crocs. Luckily there was one up on the bank when we arrived, but he soon got in the water and joined another one swimming around. We sat and watched them for awhile, and got a few pictures, although you could really only see part of their faces out of the water. We then drove onto the Mamukala wetlands. There were lots of birds there, including a big group of Pelicans.
We then left Kakadu and drove along the Arnhem Highway, and stopped in the town of Humpty Doo, which has a fairly large shopping centre. It was just a short journey then to the Tumbling Waters Caravan Park, which we chose because it's close to the Territory Wildlife Park, which we planned to visit tomorrow. The Caravan Park was lovely, it had a lovely pool to swim in and lots of wildlife, including a freshwater crocodile enclosure, peacocks wandering around, and lots of wallabys.
