Another early start and the weather was great, so there was no need to bundle up at all. We were on a mission today. John had made arrangements yesterday by phone to have his rear tire changed in Terrace B.C.. We arrived in Terrace by 11:00 a.m. and headed directly to the Honda shop.
It was fortunate for us that we were there early as John's bike was not ready until 5:00 p.m.. This was the second Gold Wing that this mechanic had ever worked on, and it was obvious. This was the first time that John showed his feelings, he was really ticked off but held his composure. When you see five hours of labor at $55.00 per hour you would tend to get a little anxious. It all worked out cost wise but the mechanic forgot to balance the tire and this is what really put John over the edge. The shop must have seen John's frustration as they only charged him for 1.6 hours of labour and then took $20.00 off the price of the tire.
We had lunch at the Cheers Restaurant in Terrace. It was a great buffet, so we made pigs of ourselves. We had lots of time to kill so we just walked around town. John e-mailed his wife, Helen, a short note from a local store that offered computer services.
After John's bike was ready we headed to Lakelse Provincial Camp Ground which was about a half hour ride outside Terrace. This was a large provincial camp ground. After setting up we toured around, and found it to be a very clean park with a great beach. The German couple that we had met the previous night ended up at the site right next to us: amazing. We had our John Stephens dinner and drifted over to visit with our German friends. We found out that they were on their honeymoon. John took some pictures and we exchanged addresses.
