The day started with a visit to the Mission Hill Family Estates Winery where I saw the gorgeous grounds overlooking Lake Okanogan.  It lives up to its reputation for superb architecture, landscaping, and setting. It is important to get there early to avoid the crowds. There were many metal sculptures around the grounds by Nathalie Decoster. See the photos of her work.

From here I went to the Summerhill Pyramid winery, best know for storing its wine within a large Pyramid. Though much smaller in scale, the view was awesome and the restaurant where I ate lunch was magnificent. This winery was much funkier and so was also very interesting in it's own way.
Then I drove down highway 33 to the first camping spot available along a river. The only service it had was an outhouse. The owner was high as a kite, admitting he had just 'toked up'. it was pretty cool though because from our spot on the river I could watch people for hours floating by on flotation tubes and toys as well as two guys fly fishing right in front of me until almost dark. Another neat thing were two curious horses who made friends with everyone even though we had nothing to offer them. Although it was a cool experience I decided the next campground better offer showers or at least water and electricity to charge up all the various gadgets....two computers, iphone, two headsets, two cameras...phew...this was supposed to be a simple way to journey????
