Trip End

I have a few add-ons to last night at the Hotel Del Sol. During the night there seemed to be much car traffic in and out of the parking lot. One I did see was one gentleman arrived in a taxi with three young ladies and rushed upstairs. Everyone seemed so happy, particularly him. There were two English channels, CNN and one full blown porno channel. I enjoyed the news!
I had an early rise this morning and headed South on a toll road that cost $3.00 for probably 100 Km.
While travelling through one of the small towns I saw a "burrito stand" so I pulled over and a nice young couple served me a coke and a burrito with beef and some other fixings. It was very good and it didn't upset my stomach at all.
The terrain changed dramatically, as it became hilly and there were pine trees everywhere. What also changed is the building styles, as suddenly there were log cabins everywhere. This is not something I would expect in Mexico.
One interesting service in Mexico is the drive through convenience store. In this area the Tecate store seems to be the most common
I made to Creel which is near the Copper Canyon, and checked into the Casa Margaritas Guest House, where I have private room and bath, free internet, and dinner and breakfast for $20.00 Very interesting place. My room is at the end of a very long hall.
I have had a lot of time to think about what I am doing in Mexico, with plans to go into Guatemala, Belize and Honduras and I have come to the conclusion that there is a level of stress that is continuous. Be it language, food, lifestyle, poverty . .perhaps all of them and more. So I have decided to ride North starting tomorrow morning. I plan to be back in the USA and then will decide what route I take to get back to my car in Cuming, GA.
I am somewhat disappointed as this has been a dream of mine for many years, but there are so many other things left to be done.

Congratulations
Hi John, I know that you must be disappointed, but perhaps another time, with some company.
Somehow, upon hearing stories about things that happen to tourists in Mexico makes one be a tad concerned as to one's saftey while traveling alone -- even if 90% of the people everywhere are honest and nice, it is the few who are not.
Keep the blog going, it is fun to be a voyeur
all the best from both of us

A plan , yes a plan
It almost seems a contradiction to have plan and be in Central America!
Stress, yes with no plan. I hope you will return but keep us posted. I am glad for one that you are away from the border of Chihuahua. Make you day run past the border towns when you do the trip again.
Are you planing on returning to Mexico and onward. If so maybe we should set you up with some people to visit. Spanish helps but they may be able to translate.I was not sure of your plans.
Often it is in getting to know the locals and their lifestyle that the fund comes. Sure you watched the news not the comings and goings in that motel? One friend of mine took blindfold and earplugs for his economical stays.(A missionary):)
New Direction
If your new direction takes you in the vicinity of San Antonio Tx., Heidi and I will be there on March 7th. Apparently the condo is near the Riverwalk and has a hide-a-bed.
