Where I stayed

Leaving in the morning we headed South and soon found ourselves in Troy. This was a pretty cool place and we wandered around for a while learning about the history of the city. I climbed inside a giant Trojan horse and photo-bombed a bunch of tourists. I'm sure they didn't want my face in their picture but too bad for them. Photo-bombing is one of my top skills so they were clearly outclassed.

After Troy we got on the road in our tour minibus and had a 5 hour drive to Selçuk. This wasn't too bad except for the fact we were in a tour minibus. This meant that we completely wasted the opportunity to drive fast on the perfect highways. Everytime the bus got to 90 km/h it started beeping loudly and the driver had to back off the accelerator. After some of the horrendous roads in Africa this was somewhat frustrating for me, but eventually we did indeed make it to our destination. On the way I also managed to bargain down a salesman on the price of the best hat in the entire world.

Selçuk is a lovely little town nestled in the mountains and I had a bit of a walk around when we arrived. We had a big BBQ at the hotel which had some really nice breads and salads, I probably had a few helpings too many. Damn you buffet, you always get me. The next morning I woke up early and caught a taxi out to Ephesus. These are some really fascinating ruins that are very well preserved. I spent about an hour and a half walking around trying my best to avoid the giant tour groups. It was actually quite pleasant wandering around on my own since I didn't have to follow a tour guide and I could go and explore little random alleyways and staircases and go wherever I felt like going. I then spent about 30 minutes at the end of the walk sitting at the very top steps of one of the biggest amphitheatres in the world. A very nice moment. I walked back to town from Ephesus. I was hungry. I had seen some neat little restaurants during my walkabout the night before so I found them again for some brunch. I ended up having 3 full lunches at 2 different places, hence the name of the blog. I had two Turkish pizzas called pıde. Then I decided that a chicken donair I saw as I was walking home looked too tasty to pass up. Super tasty! Why do I eat too much? A mystery for sure. I felt so full and terrible after I ate I went straight back to my hotel room and had a nice 3 hour siesta.

As nighttime rolled around everyone decided to take a minibus up to a tiny little mountain village called Sirinçe. This place was awesome and reminded me so much of one of my favorite tiny villages in France I visited 10 years ago. We had a wine-tasting experience when we arrived then I went and explored for a good half hour. So much fun just walking up tiny little random cobbled streets and ending up in peoples backyards unexpectedly. Dinner was nice as well. Fresh bread and olives and spinach and cheese Turkish pancakes! When we came back to Selçuk we hit up the Pink Bar and enjoyed some fun magic from the bartender.

Pamukkale in the morning!
