Today was a great day!

Left Rotorua early in the AM and bussed to a little town called Waitomo which is famous for its caves. Our tour stopped here and we had the option to participate in something called black water rafting which I had heard great things about so I signed up. I'm really glad I did too.

We got geared up in wetsuits and helmets and gumboots and armed with an inner tube and barely functional headlamp we set off for the caves. Stopping every now and then to hear history and information about the caves we made our way further and further down to about 80m underground. Eventually we got to running water which is where the inner tubes came in. We rafted for about 30 minutes very slowly down a little underground river with our lights completely off and stared up at the ceiling which was full of glowworms. It was very surreal and beautiful and amazing. To make it a bit more interesting we also had to fall off a waterfall backwards into a pool of water and go down a very steep slide into a pool of water we couldn't even see below. Really great experience and I'm glad I did it.

The rest of the day was spent bussing to Taupo which is a very nice town by a lake.

Had a good night with a bunch of friends from the tour at an Irish pub.

Bye for now!
