Our first tourist stop was the Spam museum in Austin Minnesota.  The stop was just for Tracey at work.  The museum was not hard to find, once you drove anywhere near the Hormel plant you could just follow your nose.   The museum is free and takes you through the history of Spam.  If you ever need tips on marketing, I think Hormel got it right with Spam.  The first radio jingle, George Burns as a spokesperson, and the "Hormel Girls" that toured the country singing and dancing promoting Hormel products.

For the farmers in the family, they were starting to seed, mostly corn in this area.

Today was a windy day for driving so the break in Austin was nice.  Hopefully tomorrow is a calm day.

Did you get any FREE samples on your Spam tour??

Maybe this was a stop for provisions for the entire trip.

Joel would not even try a sample! It was an interesting museum. The company is a good lesson in marketing, with traveling Hormel girls and George Burns and Gracie Allan doing radio ads.
