Our 6AM morning began with waiting ten minutes in Dominical for our mini-bus. The town was empty and eerily quiet. We started to wonder if we were going on the tour at all and who we needed to blame for losing our money. When we signed up for the tour we were only expecting a boat ride out of Dominical that included the opportunity to view whales and some snorkeling. So, we were surprised when our guide told us that we were going to be driving for an hour to get to the town of Sierpe where we would board a boat.
During our drive we stopped to view some Howler Monkeys and when we picked up a group we saw a Perezoso in the the tree. Perezoso is Spanish for 'lazy,' but is also the translation for a sloth. We drove into Sierpe and saw some of the spheres that were made out of stone by the ancient people of the area. Archeologists still are not sure what they were used for. Some think they were created and placed in line with the stars, while others say an ancient culture of giants created them to play soccer.
