Ciao a tutti!

This weekend is super super exciting because Mommy and Daddy Schindler are coming to visit me! For those of you who have never met them, I'm very sorry for you. For those of you who have, you understand the degree of awesome that is about to invade Italy.

Together with this degree of awesome this weekend comes a need to study to earn another very expensive degree. But mostly, I doubt studying will happen. Friday I was going to study all day. Then I spent the morning at the Uffizi. We walked through the whole thing, and saw the permanent collection as well as the exhibition on the International Gothic period (big, shiny, religious triptychs). Not my favorite, but they are shiny so that's positive. The permanent collection included the Birth of Venus, other Botticelli's, Caravaggio, Rembrandt, Tiziano, and others. Also they had a lot of Dutch work (which is my actual favorite). One of the things I thought was really interesting was they had a whole tour set up for the visually impaired. They had all signs in braille, and for the more famous works they had tactile recreations in front of the work itself. I've never seen that in a museum, so I was impressed.

After a lovely dinner Saturday night, Sunday we were off to see the David. The real one! I got us to the front of the line with my handy dandy museum card, and we breezed through to see the David. Then we headed back to the hotel, picked up the car, and drove to Perugia for the chocolate festival! There was every different kind of chocolate, and we enjoyed most of them. We had hot chocolate (melted chocolate in a cup), although the spicy kind was a little too much for some of us. We also had chocolate liquor, chocolate oranges, and of course regular chocolate. The town itself was also really cute, so all in all it was a good day!

I am also sorry to inform you all that there will be no post next week, due to my lack of internet on the cruise. :( But the week after, expect to hear all about our night in Rome, and the cruise. We will be seeing the Amalfi Coast, Sicily, and the Greek Islands! And to top it all off, the fourth and most awesome Schindler will be joining us. So get ready for an extra long post filled with hilarity.
