Most of the group did a glacier walk or ice climb today on the Fox Glacier. I chose to bike and walk around to some of the other points of interest in the area. In the morning, I biked down to Lake Matheson just down the road from our camp and walked around there. It provided some great reflections off of the lake of Mount Cook and Mount Tasman. After grabbing lunch at camp, I biked up a trail to the glacier with a walk to the terminal face of the glacier. The bike ride down the hill through the forested trail was so much fun; I think that was the best part of the day! I hung around town and the camp until we picked up the glacier walkers and climbers. From the town of Fox Glacier, we made a quick stop in Franz Josef before heading to camp in Okarito on the Tasman Sea. Swam in the sea and then had a campfire on the beach. We chatted with a Kiwi from Palmerston North (North Island) who makes kayaks for a living. He brought out a couple bottles of wine and stayed up until 2am.
