"We will take photos of you as you zoom past us - make sure you look like you are enjoying yourself and not shitting your pants" said the sandboarding guide! Result is attached!!! ( I was made to wear the helmet - I know it makes me look sooo much more cool!)

Me again! Well today is a complete relax of a day - had a massive sleep in until 8:30am -usually up by 6am and on the road by 7am. Spent the day wondering around swakopmund which is such a beatuiful town - reminds me of Lorne with a German influence.

Well yesterday was the much anticipated sandboarding and quad biking day. All in all it was a very fun day. The object of sandboarding is you are supplied with a state of the art speed machine - yes a piece of plywood with one side covered in surf wax, then you climb up to the the top of the dunes (which I will talk about in a min) you then lie face first on this piece of ply, bend it up so you don't get a mouthful of sand and fly down at 70km per hour - so much fun! The only problem is that after wiping out a number of times I am still getting sand out of places which I did not even know sand could get into!

As for the Quad biking - Mr I have riden a 4 wheeler before (about 3 years ago) choose a manual bike - hmm quite embarrassing stalling it up the first hill - but once I get the hang of it - off I went. 55km of up and down sand dunes as the sunset over the Atlantic Ocean - amazing views. The dunes in Nambia are amazing, they are about 5 min drive out and they are just there - there is just dirt, gravel, grass and then all of a sudden massive sand dunes which contain titanium and quartz! It is really hard to explain and hopefully some of the photos do it justice! The bike riding was great - and as we had the evening session we were able to stop and watch the sunset over the dunes - wow! I sound like a sales rep for the Sth African Tourisim Board!

We are off tomorrow heading Sth towards capetown and I think we have an early start. There is a golf course (yes golf) in Swakopmund so I am going to check out the $$$ and get a lazy 9 holes in if I can! Hmm who said you have to do without life's pleasures when you travel.

Talk soon and be safe
Jay

P.S Had my first bottle of red wine the other night with my ostrich kebab and I am pleased to say that the Australian Wine Industry has nothing to worry about with the Sth African wines.... but I guess red is red!
