I have decided to go south for a little bit. I got out of Bangkok and took a long bus ride and boat trip to reach the island of Samui. On the way, I managed to meet two Welsh girls that I would hang out with for most of my time on the island. We managed to find accommodation quite quickly and then headed straight to the beach. An afternoon massage on the beach was just what was needed after a 15 hour trip to get there!!! We had a nice dinner and told ourselves tonight would be easy and tomorrow we would really go out!!

The next day, we met for a day in the sun. Shortly after priming ourselves for a beautiful tan, we met two English girls. As the day went on, we decided that all of us should go out for the night so we were to meet at the same bar as we were sunning at for drinks and dinner. At night, the beach turns into a beautiful dining area. The lounge chairs become tables. Christmas lights are strung to look like tent tops. Candles are put on the tables. The children also come out at night looking for some baht. Hordes of children surround you and try to put flower leis on your head. You say no and they keep trying. Little boys playing connect 4 come and try to beat you. Lisa and Simone have real soft spots in their hearts for the children and they soon became the adopted parents on all of the children on the beach. We had to drag them off the beach while they still had some baht and went for a nice dinner. From there, we went down the road to the drag club cabaret. It was still a bit early and we managed to get our pictures taken with the "girls". We also got the best seat in the house. Our waiter was playful with us. We egged him on. The club started filling up. The drag queens were dancing on stage and pulling us up to dance with them. The club was full and the show started. It was very much like the show in the Birdcage. Very well done. The girls and I were also a hit. The emcee kept commenting on us and how rowdy we were. Our waiter pulled us up on stage to take pictures. Finally it was time to leave. Hugs and kisses from our waiter and an emceed good bye. It was time to look for the karaoke bar. 5 minutes later, we managed to clear out the bar. We were singing English songs arranged by Asian components. None of the songs sounded the same but yet we were trying to sing them while lounging around on leather couches. A couple of rounds of songs and off we went to the bar next door. We had met the owner on the beach so we stopped by to say hi. We were there long enough for the owner's dog to come up to me and hump my leg. Now really what kind of dog does my leg look like. The night was almost to an end so we had to hit the dance floor. A half an hour of dancing and we all decided it was time to hit the sack. A big bottle of water was purchased on the way home and life would be grand. Thus was the night out in Ko Samui!!
