WARNING: Initial impressions quoted may fluctuate and are subject to change.

Just 2 days (so far) of Bangkok, the city I LOVE to HATE

My positive Bangkok-

*cheap food, cheap stays... cheap stuff to buy
*fun to explore and relatively easy to get around
*pretty safe
*people actually help you out, as best they can
*the food is amazing (but VERY spicy)

My negative Bangkok-

*wicked hot! and humid (drinking lotsa water)
*language is very hard to copy... one word: tonal
*traffic is insane here... worse than any city I've been to, including New York
*I get the impression I have the words 'rip me off' tattoed on my forehead

Overall, this is an interesting city. We're having fun exploring it. Well, actually, Crystal is crashed out in the room, so I guess it's just me.

Some good news: we're alive and well, shopped and stocked up... and some bad news: we couldn't find the Circuit Assembly today. We went to the place told to us by a sister, but didn't see anything or anyone there. Oh well, we'll get directions again and try tomorrow. I really hope we make it there.

Thanks for all of your emails, too. I really enjoy reading them. (I'll try to take pictures for you, Kate). Crystal has a funny story to tell you all about women's clothing sizes in Bangkok. And I have a tale to share about the dangers of manholes. I'll have to get over the initial shock, tho. (Don't worry, no limbs lost).

That's it for the now. I'll update more later. Take care everyone!

Ciao,
JR Riel
