Hola!
Well not too much has been going on lately. For the past week or so we have just been relaxing; we spent a day walking the streets of San Jose and another doing the same in Cartago. We bought a few last gifts for our families, rented a few movies, and tried to keep ourselves occupied as best we could! Trying to find ways to stay occupied and avoid complete boredom is tricky when you are out of funds. Oh, the most exciting news thus far: Jorge got his hair cut and designed (you have to check out the picture!); he is not impressed. I like it although he thinks the girl completely massacered his head.
We started volunteering a few days ago at El Cuidad de los Ninos (CDN), an organization just outside of Cartago. CDN is a school that takes in boys of all ages and educates them. The boys are taught a skilled trade and are frequently hired even before they graduate. This organization is granted money from the government and has done a great deal of good for the local community. We assisted in the Festival of San Augustin that took place this past weekend and tomorrow we begin teaching English to some of the students. Hopefully we will be doing that until the end of the week, then enjoying our last weekend in Central America before catching our flight home on Monday. Unfortunately, the organization is incredibly unorganized and it is like pulling teeth with these people just to get some sense of direction and answers out of them. Novertheless, it feels good to be doing something productive and to be part of something that helps others.
Hasta Pronto todo mundo!
