We boarded yesterday in Buenos Aires at lunch time. Many people queued but things went smoothly with the usual Holland American efficiency. Our cabin is lovely, clever use of space. We have a window looking out over the Promenade deck. We are situated middle to bow, on the 6th floor, so hopefully should be fine in bad weather.

After a lovely sail through the night down the Rio de la Plata (River Plate), we awoke to a nice warm partly cloudy day in Montevideo. The River Plate is very brown and muddy, but I imagine as we head out to sea tomorrow it will soon change. No tour today, we thought we'd wander ourselves as its not very far to most attractions and we enjoy the walk. Peter is very interested in the history of the place, especially about the "Grafs Spee" (Pocket battleship) that was scuttled here in WW2.

We had a lovely day ashore, visited Museums, Chapels, Theatre's and walked the Plazas. There was a marked walking tour around the city which took in all the interesting places. The city has a very Spanish, Italian feel about it, with many old buildings.

We leave Montevideo this evening. Its a two day sail towards the Falklands. Depending on the sea conditions, the Captain will make a decision on weather we end up there or go on to Porta Madra.
