It is 9am in Prague, Shaz is sleeping in, the lovely lady who runs our hostel is making pancakes and I have woken up fearing the effects of an ansinth hangover...so far so good.
Last night we went to the U Fleku beer hall, which has its own entry in the book 1000 Places To See Before You Die. It was lots of fun and remeniscent of Oktoberfest. The hostel we are staying in is lots of fun. Last night we left a note on the communal table saying where we were going for a drink and most of the hostel turned up to join us. Afterwards we paid the equivalent of 10 bucks for a bottle of vodka and absinth and brought them home to the hostel for a couple more drinks.
Today we are going to the Selec Ossuary in a town called Kutna Hora, about an hour from Prague. The church has been adorned with some of the bones of 40,000 people who were buried there! Sounds creepy, but fascinating.
Prague has been wonderful. The hype is justified. Seemingly every building is worth stopping to take a photo. Yesterday morning I got up early and went down to Charles Bridge to take some photos just after dawn. It was really beautiful and very quiet compared to during the day when the tourist crowd takes over.
We had initially planned to stay in Prague three nights, but we've bumped it out one day because the city is so fantastic and also because we managed to get tickets to the Estate Theatre to see Don Giovanni (Mozart opera which had its premier there) for the equivalent of 7 aussie dollars. On Sunday we are heading to the small town of Cesky Krumlov.
Must go, pancakes await!
