When the plane's tires touch ground in Tel Aviv, people clap their hands!  We've arrived!  It is a quick pass through immigration and customs, then a taxi to our Hotel Cinema in downtown Tel Aviv.  There is a warm welcome from the front desk personnel and here we are, in our room, with a wonderful view from the balcony facing Dizengoff Square.

Harvey has a yen for falafel and shwarma, so with a recommendation from the front desk, we try The Magicians or Hakomem, just a few blocks from our hotel.  The menu is in Hebrew, but the staff help us out and with lots of smiles and hand pointing, we do just fine.  The falafel is the lightest, crispiest, tastiest we have ever had!  We sit outside in the delightful twilight, breathing in the warm evening air and enjoying the street scene.  I ask Harvey to pinch me to make sure I know I'm not dreaming.  I highly recommend The Magicians for a very informal light bite!

We then take a walk around the neighborhood and make our way back to the lovely rooftop terrace of the Cinema Hotel.  There, with pleasant views of the square below, we enjoy the night air and the complimentary desserts, tea and dried figs, dates, and apricots.  I ask Harvey to pinch me again to remind me that this is real and we are truly in Israel.
