My Mom and Dad met at the Boise Courthouse in 1936 and eloped to Cascade in March of 1937. I wanted to go to the courthouse in Cascade and get a copy of their marriage license. The drive up through the high, bare mountains followed along the Payette Rive. At times the river was quiet as a pond and around the next corner it was crashing white water. The bare mountains turned into Pine forests after about an hour's drive. I tried to image my parents cuddling in the car listening to the raging river and heading for the courthouse. It was a long squat, single story building of brick. I had imagine something more majestic.ov
After leaving Cascade I headed for Twin Falls for the night. The wide bare valleys were seldom broken up by green agriculture and off in the violet distance, broken looking bluffs beckoned. Going along the highway into Twin Falls, the road became a bridge over a deep gorge containing a small valley cut by the Snake River. it was so far down below, it looked like a miniature landscape. Fascinating terrain here in south idaho.
