Not much to tell, except that I awoke early and in good spirits after a nice sleep, and had a great morning riding. Definately the right decision to sleep overnight!!
This was the most pleasant part of the trip, knowing that I was pretty much gunna make i back in one piece and wouldnt have troubles with the road. EVen better - there are 2 roads to Urubamba from Cusco, so I took the other road from day 1, which was also a v nice windy but well-paved road. Great scenery again, and for the first time I had the confidence to overtake any trucks or cars in my way, spewing forth filthy black smoke in my face. I tried to get the bike upto 100kmh, but only managed 98kmh on a straight (the bike had a digital display) before hitting a major hairpin and deciding to play it safe. Oh well.
The only problem was I was trying to get the bike back at 9am sharp, to avoid being ripped off and being forced to pay for another day. Although I just made it into Cusco ontime, it took forever to find the shop as I couldnt remember the address, had no map or anything. Made it in just before 10am after some hairy riding in v dodgy traffic (for some reason it seemed worse than riding in Phnom Penh), and after some negotiating I only got charged for an extra day + $10 for a lost tool and missing goggle strap.
Oh, and youll b very proud of me mum - u know what I did that morning? I handwashed all my clothes. They charge about $2 a kilo to wash for u, and I wasnt about to go sightseeing, so I thought it made a great activity for the day (along with shaving). Meri n Justin thought I was nuts to do it myself, but they then spent an hour and a 1/2 chasing up their laundry, of which a substantial part went missing (and they never got it back). I must admit that that put a little smile on my face, even though I shoulda felt bad for em...
We then spent the evening drinking and celebrating, along with Meri n Justin's friend Steve who was also there.
