I have been reading up on the two major sites of Seville, which I plan on seeing today. And tomorrow I´m doing a day trip to Cordoba. Then Tuesday I head to Granada for 3 nights. Anyway, I thought it might be fun to tell you a little bit about what I´m going to see before I take the photos. That´s the way with traveling, you read about something and think it sounds fascinating but then some other component blows your mind. So, welcome aboard the journey. Let´s see what we think we´ll see today and what we actually find. Excerpts taken from the ´03 Lonely Planet Guide (I ain´t no plagarizer).
CATHEDRAL
After Seville fell to the Christians in 1248 its main mosque was used as a church until 1401 when, in view of its decaying state, the church authorities decided to knock it down and start again. ´´Let us create such a building that future generations will take us for lunatics´´ they reputedly agreed. They certainly got themselves a big church. Seville´s cathedral is one of the largest in the world. It was completed by 1507 and was originally all Gothic, though work done after its central dome collapsed in 1511 was mostly in Renaissance style.
ALCAZAR
The Alcazar began life as a fort for the Cordoban governors of Seville in 913, and has been adapted and/or enlarged in almost every century since. The Sala de Audiencias contains the earliest known painting on the ´discovery´of the Americas in which Columbus, Fernando El Catolico, Carlos 1, Amerigo Vesucci and native Americans can be seen sheltered beneath the Virgin in her role as protector of sailors.
And then I also plan on hitting up a vegetarian spanish restaurant. And finding a Spanish mass somewhere. I figure in Catholic Seville that shouldn´t be a problem.
Let´s see what the day brings!

Make sure that before you go to Granada, you try to book a ticket online for the Alhambra!
I am SO dumb!!! I went online to book my ticket for tomorrow and was disappointed because it was sold out. I was bummed. Then I remembered that I'm staying 3 nights in Granada and that tomorrow is Cordoba as a day trip. It's sad how dumb I am. Okay, booking ticket -- NOT for tomorrow. :)
