What I did
Glacier National Park.

We awoke in Kalispell to a lovely river scene.  We began our trek across the Glacier National Park Conservancy.  First, though, we had to visit a place Brian and I had camped when we were in our 20s, the Hungry Horse Dam.  It was good to see that little had changed.

Normally, we'd try Going to the Sun Road -- it is amazing -- but we had little time.  So we
stopped instead at a place we'd seen in the past:  The Izaak Walton Inn, which is a lovely small hotel near Marias Pass.  It was built  in 1939 for the railroad workers, but it now serves tourists who have a love for the railroads. It features caboose and engine cabins that are amazingly well-appointed.  You can climb the overpass and watch the trains pass right beneath you. Lunch was delicious.

We topped the pass and headed into the plains. It was hard to say good bye.  We ended up boondocking in Havre.  Tomorrow:  the historical Montana.
