OK so we know this is a few days late...but internet access is expensive over here!!! Even in the nice hotels we are staying in, we are paying about $30 for 24 hour access.  As a result we are being picky of the amount of internet we buy.  ANYWAY, we are now in Budapest Hungary, which by the way is very interesting and fun so far, but this entry is to finish up the Interlaken chapter.

We absolutely loved Interlaken!!  We thought we loved all of Switzerland until we reach Geneva for the flight home, and Geneva is very similar to all downtown cities; polluted, dirty, crowded, and a bit of rude.  The exact opposite is true of Interlaken...Everything is organized, clean, logical, and nice.  The fire wood that is stacked up against every home is cut to the exactly perfect length, the water throughout the city, including the hotel sink is amazingly clean and refreshing, there is zero graffiti, the entire city is well posted on street signs making it simple for tourist to find their way around, and the best part was the hotel rooms had an outstanding liquid cleaner that was very effective for the body, face, hair, and hands...All in one, soo smart!!

We went snowboarding on a portion of the swiss alp mountain range called "First Mountain".  The mountains up there are ominously huge!! The snow was nice and the runs were extremal long.  One thing that we observed about the active culture here is that they are very diverse and creative!  Skiing and Snowboarding are not at all the only things to do on the mountains, the way it is at most all resorts in the States...There is a huge sledging and hiking community, there were many people para-gliding and rock/ice climbing, and there is multiple unique activities such as Zip lines down the mountain or climbing into a huge rubber orb and tumbling down a course!!!  We stuck to boarding.

Some things were quite expensive though, the food/drinks, and activities were over priced.  We took a train ride from Interlaken to the "Jungfraujoch, Top of Europe", and it was VERY worth it, but it was about $115/person even with using our Eurorail pass.  Nevertheless, the Top of Europe was one of the highlights of the trip, it is part of the UNESCO world heritage sites, and rightfully so!! It is the worlds highest train station and restaurant at about 11,000 ft!! We took a video from the top lookout platform that tells the story much better than we ever could.  For about the last 3,000 foot climb up the mountain, the train goes through a tunnel dug into the mountain that was all completed in 1916!!! Amazing.

Interlaken has captured our interest and we both agreed to make it back again someday, Jamie would prefer the summer!  Interlaken ranked an A+ and is soo far our favorite location we have visited.  Now off to Budapest Hungary where we have our nicest hotel reserved and we are very excited to experience the city that we have been told soo many good things about!!

Ciao,
Josh and Jamie
