Hallo! or Hoi!
On Friday I went for a nice long walk with a couple of friends. Fumio told us about a Chateau outside of Maastricht that you can enter the caves in the hills. The Chateau stores their wine back in the caves. We started our walk and the destination was off of the map so we were not quite sure how far we were going. We ended up leaving Maastricht and walking along a highway (in the bike lane). The Chateau Nercanne was on the edge of a little village. The buildings have been transformed into a hotel and a restuarant (one of the most expensive places to eat and sleep in the south of the Netherlands) We were a bit underdressed to venture inside but the gardens and caves were beautiful in their own right. After the Chateau we ventured into the village to have a look around. There was a extremely tiny chapel and a bakery (with very good pastries!!). I look forward to getting out of Maastricht and visiting some of the more rural villages in the area...Friday was a good start.
Hope everyone enjoys the pictures!
