We arrived in Vienna after a day in Salzburg. It has a nice castle there with some good views, and the bells ring for ages, as in 10 minutes plus. These are the only positive things I can think to say about Salzburg, it truly is a very dull place. We spent half an hour skippng rocks into the Danube. Avoid.
Vienna was a different matter entirely, this is a place where something is always going on, and for free! The day we arrived we were picked up by Ceenu and driven (a novelty by itself) to her flat. Where we relaxed for a bit and caught up, over sandwiches. Then we went out in the evening to the Danube riverside area, where I managed to both sit on a sofa and trampoline, on the Danube. Another thing that was on my list of things to do. Well not really but it went on afterwards and was ticked off. Then we tried to go to a club, but at the first one guys had to pay to get in, and the second one was a floating cattle market. I suppose it makes sense really but we couldnīt really be bothered.
The next day dawned, and we were up with it to collect Dave and Lucy from the station. We waited for 20 mins then went into town to go shopping while we waited for them to call us. I got a new pair of shoes for €10. Then they rang and said theyīd been at the station the whole time. So we went back and there was still no sign of them. Unfortunately we got the wrong train station. Oops. So we picked them up and went on a day of sightseeing in Vienna after breakfast. Highlights included the cool cathedral, and the Incident with the waiter. Basically we got in a huge arguement over about whether we should pay extra for our coffees, as we didnīt get what we ordered. We relented in the end as he wouldnīt speak to us in English and Ceenu couldnīt be bothered to argue to vehemently as the guy was being a bit of a dick.
That evening we went out to the opera. Well a huge screen outside the Rathaus playing opera anyway. It was really nice, a cool relaxing atmosphere. Then we were going to go clubbing, but none of us could really be bothered so we went back to the same place as yesterday and had a beer instead.
The next day we went to a palace and went into a kidīs maze and playground. I could wax lyrical about the huge fun we had here, but now is not the time to delve the depths of our enjoyment of things intended for those a decade younger. And the palace was pretty too. Ice cream followed, possibly the best weīve had so far on our trip, and certainly the best value, at s scoops for a euro. Afterwards we returned home for a big dinner of schnitzel and rice and potato and salad. It was a beautiful meal in the company of good friends. Afterwards we went to a square, went paddling in a fountain, and saw a surreal art exhibit called !I am a Horse". It included a few stands covered in plastic horses, two live horses, and several people dressed like horses. One of whom was singing "Iīm a horse" over and over, for about an hour. Austrians are quite weird. Then back to the flat for what was essentially a 5 year olds sleepover. We all listened to kids songs, told jokes, ate chocolate and giggled a stupid amount. And then the next morning we moved onto Slovakia.

Hi travellers
Hello Josh and John. Sounds like you are truely having a brilliant time. I'm so glad you are doing this blog Josh as it's great to at least see the flashing dots moving around with you on the map although cannot really visualise where you two are. Quite impressed with your descriptive prose, I guess you do take after me a little bit after all. Keep up the good work. Love always Josh, and John keep him on the straight and narrow, though probably you are as bad as each other. Stay safe. Love mum/steph
Greetings chaps
Glad things proceeding well, are you hearing the news about the nonstop pouring rain here? You're well out of it believe me. Don't forget to give me a few days notice before you get to Holland and we'll try and meet up.
