It took a few days to get over the culture shock after arriving in Australia.  The contrast to India could not have been more extreme.   In the hotel lift a lady was telling a story about a powercut in her hotel - we can't think of one Indian hotel on our travels where we didn't have a power cut!

Impossible not to love Sydney, it is such a great city.   We were surprised by how much of the city and surrounding areas are built around the water and the number of Chinese people here.  The city has such a great feel to it.  Loved the trip out to Manly on the Ferry from Circular Quay and enjoyed a fabulous walk around Manly and the surrounding area where we found some delightful little bays and spectacular views back over to Sydney.

We took a trip out to the Blue Mountains which were breathtaking, however, definitely decided that group coach trips are not for us - too much on and off buses and being herded

After four days in Sydney we headed up to Brisbane to see my gorgeous friend Cath who I haven't seen since 1997.  Tears at the airport were inevitable.   I last saw Cath when we met up in LA and spent two weeks travelling in California.  Since then she has married and had two children so there is lots of catching up going on here.   Cath and Brett have a lovely home on the outskirts of Brisbane and we are enjoying spending time with them, with the girls Jannah and Georgia and dog Tommy.  Enjoyed spending my birthday with them yesterday.

Tonight (Monday) we fly to Cairns for a few days and we now have less then 2 weeks to go before we head home.
