We had a great first day in Iceland! We went to an amazing waterfall called Gullfoss, where we saw a glacier in the distance probably around the same size as Lake Tahoe. The next stop we came to was a geyser field that had the second largest geyser in the world, just behind Steam Boat, somewhere in the U.S. (I'm assuming in Yellowstone.) It was much like Old Faithful, but instead of erupting every 45 minutes or so, it erupted appx. every 10 minutes or less, and was bigger. I caught a great video of Tara with the geyser which is posted and some good pics as well. Needless to say, I (Josh), am in geologic heaven! More tomorrow...

Today was a great day too. We started the day by taking a shuttle bus to a stable where we rode Viking Horses around the countryside for a couple of hours. Tara is a natural with horses, where I will never be able to have children after riding my horse today. My ass feels like I got hit by a dump-truck from behind... twice, and then Rocky Balboa decided he wanted to punch me in the ass for a couple of hours instead of training with a punching-bag today. Other than that, the views were great and we had a good time getting to know a new part of the island. Next we went to the Blue Lagoon, which was an absolute amazing phenomenon. The water was the craziest blue color we have ever seen. Not to mention that it felt nice on my backside after that "lovely" horseback ride earlier today. We swam in the pools for a couple of hours and enjoyed the sites. The lagoon water was like bath water, and is being warmed by hydrothermic forces under the earth's surface, basically a cooler looking hot spring than what we are used to seeing in the States. Amazing! Tomorrow we get up and fly out to Amsterdam early in the morning. Anyone who has the chance should visit Iceland at one point.
