It was a quick flight to Christchurch, where Brianna and I stayed in a hostel for two nights before checking into the über-swank Hotel SO. The hotel is a collection of space-pod-like rooms with customizable mood lighting and an alarm system that mimics the rising sun to wake you.
It was small, but efficient and very comfortable. Plus, we felt like we were in Kubrick's 2001.
Christchurch itself is a charming city with a cathedral at it's center. I mean, it's called Christchurch...
We meandered through the museum and walked through the gardens. We spent a n afternoon punting on the Avon. Yes, we're fancy. Punting means gondola-ing, and the Avon is the river that runs through the town. When the English settled, it was common for them to have gardens in the center of their cities, and so all along the river banks are trees and flowers.
