It's that time of year when the weather begins to change, when traditionally in the UK the trees lose their leaves.  We drive around here, admiring the Autumn scenes, striking red, yellow and orange trees with leaves fluttering to the ground, set alongside rich and succulent shades of green which belong to the ferns and evergreen varieties.  These views have been made ever more striking with the clear bright blue skies we have been experiencing over the last few weeks, along with the surprisingly mild temperatures.

The children continue to enjoy school, even though the terms seem to go on for ever. They are eager to jump out of bed in the morning and curl up on the sofa to watch TV before the routine of getting ready for school.  They run enthusiastically down the boardwalk to the car and are full of excitement after the short drive to school, desperate to get to their classrooms and friends.  After school they are full of energy, dropping bags off before dashing off to play on the climbing frames with their buddies.  Their social life involves going to friends houses to play or for tea, or having them over to ours...............they love it!  The progress they have made since our arrival has been amazing too, Lucy continues to improve her reading and confidence in maths, whilst Dan has enthusiastically learnt to read - we can't believe how much his interest and confidence has grown.

Weekends have involved socialising with new friends, netball matches at the Trust Stadium, exploring the Waitakeres and enjoying day to day life living in New Zealand.

Of course, we still have our ups and downs.  Life here is good but is still not particularly settled and we are still working hard at creating a new support network.  Both of us are finding it difficult starting again professionally and are impatient to be established in our fields.  Something which will only happen over time.  We often chat about where we think we will be in two years, five years, ten years..............................and we really don't know.  At the moment it is a case of enjoying this new life and seeing where experiences take us.
