On Saturday evening we drove down into Auckland to experience the lantern festival to mark the end of the Chinese New Year. It was a festival held over three evenings in Albert Park in downtown Auckland.
The lanterns were absolutely amazing, particularly once it got dark. The children were mesmerized by the variety of colours and creations that were scattered throughout the park, as I think were we!
There were just so many people, far too many people really, particularly for little people. The queues for the Asian food stalls were massive, so we decided against eating here, we thought it was more important to experience the lanterns than spend half an hour in a queue! Dinner could wait until we got home!
Lucy and Daniel bought Chinese lanterns which we saved until we got home. We lit them and hung them on the verandah - they were ever so pretty.
